Babe Dumb.
Babel Similar to the movie Crash but on a much larger scale. Four separete groups of people all around the world influence each other. It's hard to explain why it's good. Only a handful of the characters speak english but you can identify with all of them. To my knowledge, the story of the Tower of Babel is that in the earlier days of humanity, all the people of the world spoke the same language. Humanity's grasp was only exceeded by his greed. They thought themselves so proud and intellengent that they would build a tower into the sky and up to God. All the people of the world gathered together to build this incredible tower to the heavens. God saw their pride and boastfulness and struck the tower to pieces and scattered the people, creating different languages so as to prevent such a tower from ever being built again. Brother looked at brother and they could not understand each other so they split up and focused on their own endeavors. It might have went a little different but essentially, that's the story. This movie shows that there is culture shock when people from different parts of the world meet and words are not understood but sometimes the words aren't necessary and we can get things done with emotions. Sometimes it's the people within your own sect that don't understand. It promotes the idea that we are all people and the fact that we have all labeled ourselves different from each other creates arbitrary obstacles that are pointless and essentially flawed. The helicopter can't enter the Moroccan airspace, the caretaker who created a life of 16 years in the US is deported, why? Policy? Messed up. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Back to the Future Bad ass time travel movie. Michael J. Fox kicks so much ass.
Back to the Future: Part 2 Bad ass time travel movie part 2.
Back to the Future: Part 3 Sweet ass time travel finale. Old west style.
Bad Company Black/white cop movie with Chris Rock... Meh...
Bad Taste Strangely watchable once. Goofy as hell.
Bambi Good if you're a kid.
Barbershop Dumb.
Baseketball Funny movie by the South Park guys, Matt Stone and Trey Parker.
Batman Not as good as I remember, but Nicolson and Keaton are entertaining.
Batman and Robin Uma Thurman is hot. The rest of this movie is dumb. Especially when Silverstone unlocks the password and there's like red light all over her face like a computer's screen does that... No, it doesn't. It's dumb.
Batman Begins Solid, solid Batman origin tale. Great action, twists and performances.
Batman Forever Kind of good, solid cast.
Batman Returns Meh...
*batteries not included A decent feel good movie with cool little ufo guys.
Battle for Shaker Heights, The Shia LeBeuof stars in the second Project Greenlight film and it's really fucking good.
Battle Royale This is based on a much better (I'm told) book, although it was pretty good. Japanese school kids have to kill each other to survive. It's a lot like a Stephen King book I read once, The Long Walk. Pretty cool.
Beach, The Nice visuals and I like the premise. Its execution... dunno.
Beautiful Girls I liked this movie a lot. I'm not quite old enough to relate to all the characters but I'm getting there. It kind of felt like a peek into the future. A heads up, if you will. Who doesn't love 13-year-old Natalie Portman? Great, great cast. This one will grow on me, methinks.
Beautiful Mind, A Pure fucking horse shit. Boring as watching paint dry. The performances suck ass. I never gave one shit for the main character.
Beauty and the Beast Solid animated adventure from Disney.
Beethoven Dumb.
Beethoven's Second Slightly less dumb because I actually owned it as a kid. Nostalgia, etc. etc...
Beetlejuice Terrific performances, visuals, philosophy... Man, it owns.
Behind Enemy Lines Owen Wilson.
Be Kind Rewind The trailer paints this movie much different than it is... Yes, there are funny sweded movie recreations of a lot of beloved movies. Jack Black is hilarious. But, there's this weird black history month vibe through the whole thing. The video stuff is really secondary to this attribution of your roots theme. Not what I was expecting. Still, worth seeing, just be warned. It's not all funny movie references like an episode of Family Guy or something...
Benchwarmers, The A half-hearted attempt at a movie. The talent involved really disappoints. John Lovitz is great and so is the weird younger brother of Spade but... Come on! These guys have proven to be much funnier in the past. Also, John Heder replicates the Napoleon Dynamite character except he's not funny at all this time...
Bend It Like Beckham Kiera Knightly.
Beowulf 3D A very memorable experience. Seeing it in 3D was simpley awesome. The animation is stellar. The voice actors are perfect. Everyone "gets" what movie this is, that's important. As an adaptation of the epic poem, I think it does a noteworthy job of interpreting the material and bringing to a new audience, hundreds of years later. What more can I say? A fantastic fantasy epic with character and action.
Beverly Hills Cop Axel Foley kicks some ass. Awesome theme music when he does it, too.
Beverly Hills Cop 2 An okay sequal.
Beverly Hills Cop 3 A once-watcher.
Beverly Hills Ninja Solid Chris Farley. The 1/2 is for the ninjas.
Bicentennial Man Dumb.
Big A be careful what you wish for type story. It puts on screen a fantasy a lot of kids have, growing up and buying a shit load of toys and touching chicks breasts.
Big Bully Rick Moranis and Tom Arnold.
Big Daddy Funny and touching at the same time.
Big Fish Not as colorful as I thought going in but a nice ending and nice performances by the young and old versions of the lead.
Big Green, The Classic kids movie.
Big Trouble A lot of C-list talent in a moderately funny movie.
Big Trouble in Little China Kind of good.
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure Solid.
Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey Solid.
Billy Madison Funny as hell. Laughs every minute and Ms. Vaughn is sooo hot... Want to touch the hiney.
Biloxi Blues Solid war movie. Christopher Walken and Mathew Broderick.
Bio-Dome Funny. I like Pauly Shore, I don't care what anyone says.
Bird on a Wire A nice little movie with Goldie Hawn and Mel Gibson.
Black Sheep Solid Chris Farley/David Spade.
Blade Vampires.
Blade 2 More vampires.
Blair Witch Project, The Over-rated piece of garbage. Not entertaining or interesting at all.
Blankman Daman Wayans.
Blow Johnny Depp in a story of cocaine's growth in popularity in the USA. Nice.
Blues Brothers, The Dumb.
Bloodsport Decent martial arts movie. Jack Dukes kicks his fair share of ass but there's not much more to the plot except "secret underground tournament."
Boondock Saints Great action scenes and message about right and wrong.
Borat I feel this movie would have been a lot funnier and consistant if at the beginning he would have said, "Hi, I'm doing this character Borat to show how fucked up America is." The improvised stuff with unknowing victims is gold. The written stuff where it's just Borat being dumb is pretty lame.
Borrowers, The John Goodman.
Bourne Identity, The That one hot chick from Run, Lola, Run.
Bowling for Columbine Interesting.
Brazil Terry Gilliam's adult imagination movie. It speaks to that repressed bit of the id that gets trampled when looking at how bureaucratic and impersonal the world can be. The special effects are amazing. It's 1980's angel sequences blow away anything in X-Men 3. Highly recommended to all dreamers.
Breach I liked this movie a whole lot more when it was called Antitrust.
Break-Up, The Vince Vaughn is hilarious. I couldn't help but take his side of everything, I'm a guy. The movie will probably meet your expectations if you like V.V. or Jennifer Aniston. One of the few and far between love stories that doesn't end like all the rest.
Breakdown Terrific suspence thriller. Has you by the balls the whole way through.
Breakfast Club, The Impressive, dialogue driven movie. Many great moments. Pretty actors.
Breast Men Titties.
Bride of Chucky Terrible.
Bridget Jones's Diary Kind of okay...
Bridge to Teribithia I read the book in sixth grade and really liked it then. The trailer sets this movie up as another Narnia and I was really hesitant to see it because if memory served, the story was really not about the magical adventures and more about the relationship between the two characters. I think they managed to fit every special effect shot into that 1.5 minute trailer and I was really happy to see that. The casting is spot-on. I knew what was going to happen at the end and I still cried so I hope that says something about how well done the movie is. It's a wonderful story about childhood, growing up (not too much), friends (great ones) and imagination. I didn't realize how much this story had influenced my own writing but looking at my current novel, I almost feel like I've plagurized aspects of this. Highly recommended.
Bringing Down the House Steve Martin.
Brokeback Mountain I went into this movie not knowing what to expect. I came out with a fairly changed perception of homosexuality and even humanity. I won't say that this movie evoked some profound metamorphoses in my way of thinking and now I view homosexuals in a positive or at least neutral light, and my view prior wasn't necessarily negative... but the story of Ennis Del Mar and Jack Twist and their love was perhaps one of the greatest love stories I've witnessed on the screen. Straight or gay, this movie speaks to that part of you that loves someone that everyone around you tells you you shouldn't or that you know can never be for one reason or another, internal or external. I recommend seeing it to anyone with an open mind and a mature world-view. The performances are captivating and Brokeback Mountain is beautiful.
Broken Flowers Bill Murray has some good moments but he's so low key the entire movie... There are many scenes where he just sits there on the couch, sitting, or sleeping, or listening to people talk off camera... The story was interesting... Inexcessable in certain areas, you don't ever get a solid understanding of Murray's character or how certain relationships ended. Fan of Murrays? Check it. If not, pass.
Brothers Grimm, The It's a decent flick but just doesn't do enough. Funny and creepy at times... Missing something though.
Bruce Almighty Jim Carrey.
Bubba Ho Tep Bruce Campbell.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer Vampires and Donald Sutherland. Kinda lame because Sarah Michelle Geller is Buffy to me, so it's kinda hard to watch this one anymore.
Butterfly Effect, The I really like time travel movies. Ashton Kucher gives a surprisingly good performance.
Buying the Cow Horatio Sans and that hot chick from Billy Madison.
Bye, Bye Love Enjoyable movie about a bunch of divorced dads and how they cope with life after love.
