Dan in Real Life A more mellow Steve Carrell makes for some great laughs. Heartwarming feel good movie.
Daredevil The Kingpin is not black. Electra is not American and tame.
Darjeeling Limited, The If you like Wes Anderson... You've seen this movie and liked it. I enjoyed it. I loved the Hotel Chevalier, this movie's short "Part 1." Maybe more than the actual movie. Check it out though. A good brother movie.
Dark Blue Cop movie. Has Ben from Felicity in it.
Dark Crystal, The I missed it the first time around. Nostalgia-less, it's kind of lame. Slow paced.
Dark Knight, The You don't need to hear it from me. The movie sets a new standard, blah blah blah. Heath Ledger, blah blah blah... Yeah, the movie's perfect.
Darkness Falls It's yet another one of these horror movies that has a pretty cool concept and starts promisingly, only to plummet to the depths of shitty movie hell at the beginning of the second act. The last hour of the movie is one long, boring chase scene with no cleverness or scares or anything... Why oh why?
Dawn of the Dead Fun, thought-provoking, scary... A terrific zombie movie.
Day of the Dead Though-provoking and scary... A decent zombie movie.
Day the Earth Stood Still, The An interesting, yet sometimes heavy-handed, look at the way humanity treats each other and the Earth. Keanu Reeve's trademark drawl works here as he's meant to be a distant alien.
Dazed and Confused I had watched the beginning in the past and didn't like it but decided to stick with it and I'm glad I did. It's a really great movie with a fun cast. If you find yourself not liking it at first like I did, keep watching, it gets better. Also, that guy takes off the overalls if your worried.
Dead Alive Strange as hell. Zombies though...
Dead Poets Society Terrific movie, if you like poetry or Robin Williams, you'll love it.
Dear God A "cute" movie, as my grandmother would say. Kind of funny, clever at times...
Death Becomes Her This movie is about two stupid bitches and then there's poor Bruce Willis in the middle of it all. The end scared the crap out of me and kept me up nights wondering what I'd do if I was cursed with immortality.
Death Proof This movie plays out like a stage play in a lot of ways. The whole movie is these huge chunks of dialogue with a couple car chases in the middle and end. I like this. The cast of babes is nice. I really liked Zoe's character, herself. Kurt Russell is a badass. Just a fun movie.
Deception Hugh Jackman, Ewan McGregor and Rachel Weisz headline this great thriller about -what else?- "deception."
Deep Impact Dumb.
Delirious John Candy.
Demolition Man Cryogenics.
Dennis the Menace Dumb. Just watch the cartoon when it's on at 5AM.
Desperation It was okay... I liked it more than most others might just because I like Stephen King lore and this story is similar to my favorite of his, IT. The little boy SUCKS $%@!#%# I fucking hate him! I don't know if it's the character or the actor that I hate but I couldn't stand a single word or action by him. Every time he was on screen I was like "WTF?"
Detroit Blood City Don't let the score fool you, this was worth watching... It's an independant zombie movie. I really admire the film makers for doing it. The end product is only ever going to be entertaining to the ones involved in its production and the hardcore zombie enthusiast, but they have something to show for their work. I myself have a half written zombie movie script on my hard drive that I wrote in high school but these guys actually made it. I wish I could have made mine...
Deuce Bigalo: Male Gigolo I like Rob Schneider. Plus the aquarium chick... whoa... Me like.
Deuce Bigalow European Gigelow I semi-enjoyed the first one. This is just the exact same movie, except in Europe... And less funny.
Devil's Backbone, The I feel like this movie deserves more than the score I've given it but I just couldn't complete the connection with the characters. I really don't think it was the language barrier either. It just seems like a different world completely. The characters are great and the story is engaging. I'm not sure if I want more ghost stuff or want to get rid of it completely.
Devil's Rejects, The Rob Zombie's sequal to House of 1000 Corpses, though you don't really need to see the first, everything you might need to know is explained. This movie has a lot of badassery within. Lots of scenes of people being badasses, or douche bags being cut up and shit. The soundtrack is a great element, gotta love 'Freebird.' Some might see it as just a brutal killing spree but I think it says a lot more about power, control, will power and the nature of human beings. The end reminded me of 'The Hills Have Eyes,' the cop wants to kill the Rejects for how they tortured and killed his brother but he doesn't just detain and try them, as perhaps the righteous would call 'justice,' he forms his own brand of justice and takes them back to their own torture palace and starts doing to them what they've done to so many others. He didn't care about becoming what he hated, he just wanted revenge. He wanted to cause these people pain. Great flick.
Dick Dumb.
Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star Funny but strange at the end how he was her kid and now he's marrying her...
Dick Tracy I was amazed at how visually stunning this movie is. The color and cinematography are just breath(less)taking. The bad guy make-up is cool and sweet. The plot, while a little long, it interesting. The only thing that I'm not sold on is Warren Beatty's performance. In a lot of scenes, he's just there. Look at the bomb scene , for instance. He's tied to a chair, literally seconds from death and he's looking around as if he needs a pen to write a phone number down quickly. Come on, be Dick Tracy! Surprising how new this movie feels overall. It could hold it's own to today's special effects laden super hero movies, no sweat.
Die Hard Classic action flick. Check it out if you never have.
Die Hard 2: Die Harder Decent follow-up.
Die Hard with a Vengence Surprisingly fresh sequal that doesn't suck.
Dinosaur The Land Before Time but in CG.
Dirty Dancing I like this movie and its soundtrack. What can I say, sometimes I like me a chick flick.
Dirty Work Hilarious. Artie Lang and Norm MacDonald. Classic. Go rent it, you'll love it.
Dish Dogs This movie's kind of different. It's about two guys who are all about philosophy and they think they can just live life without chicks in search of all these philosophical truths but then one guy is all "I like pussy" and it makes the other one question if it was all worth it or not and then Shannon Elizabeth shows him her boobs and he pigs out on a bag of chips in the rain. It's actually very entertaining.
Disturbia Shia LaBeouf is a fucking bad ass actor. Man, he's hilarious and awesome. "In the particular is contained the universal." The bits right after his character is first trapped in his house where he's playing XBox and watching Cheaters, these things help us identify with him; at least me, a 20-something male. It's important we care, it's so important and the director understands this and makes damn sure we do. The pacing is perfect. There aren't too many throw away gags which can get old fast. The only thing I didn't like was there was a couple instances were it seemed necessary to the plot that they didn't do the logical thing. SPOILERS When Ronny was trapped in the house, why did Shia's character think to show the police the footage his computer was collecting to prove he was still inside? He believed that the neighbor had kidnapped him and trapped him somehow. Also, later, when the neighbor is clearly proven to be a killer, Shia's cutting tape from his mouth etc and he says he needs to get outside to set off the alarm. Why didn't he just cut it off? When the girl was painting hearts on it, it looked just like a plastic watch strap. I don't know why I focus on these two little bits. I'm a douche. But other than those two instances, the whole movie was fucking awesome, it pays off what it builds up and the characters are awesome, the casting is perfect. Shia LaBeouf is the fucking man, as I've said before. Watch this fucking movie.
Disturbing Behavior I like what it says about high school today. Also, Katie Holmes is effing fine as a bad girl.
Doctor Dolittle (remake) A once-watcher if you're an Eddie Murphy fan.
Doctor Dolittle 2 A once-watcher if you're an Eddie Murphy fan and you liked Doctor Dolittle 1.
Doctor Strange I really liked the middle of this movie, the philosophical growth of the Doctor and him getting over his wall. The beginning sucks and the end is kind of an anti-climactic deus ex machina. I really hate it when a character is his own d.e.m. and they suddenly remember a power they forgot, or suddenly gain a power they never knew they had and the twenty story high evil devil spirit is just wiped away and all the people that died moments ago could have been saved if the guy wasn't such a douche. Nonetheless, it actually made me like the comic character Doctor Strange more, just not this movie.
Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story Funny cast, goofy ending. Ben Stiller. I like him, what can I say.
Dogma A great movie. Funny and thought-provoking.
Donnie Darko See it and make up your own mind on whether it deserves the score I gave it.
Don't Tell Mom, the Baby Sitter's Dead Funny as written and funny to make fun of the goofy ass shit that actually happens. Like this fat kid is trying to fix his satalite dish he bought and he falls off a roof. Dumb ass.
Double Dragon Terrible video game movie. Abobo scared the shit out of me. It was the same as Death Becomes Her, I was kept up all night wondering what if I got turned into some disgusting beast.
Double Jeopardy Ashley Judd.
Down with Love Ewan Mcgregor and Renee Zelwegger in one of her halfways-less annoying roles. It's a 'cute' little movie.
Dragnet Meh.
Dragonball 4 - Saikyô e no Michi (The Path to Power) Solid retelling of a few storylines of the Dragonball manga with some high quality animation. On the other hand, it's all stuff we've seen before...
Dragonball Z 7 - Kyokugen Batoru!! San Dai Sûpâ Saiya-jin (Super Android 13!) Meh... Not much of a story but some interesting fight scenes and some of the best action with Trunks.
Dragonball Z 8 - Moetsukiro!! Nessen, Ressen, Chô-Gekisen (Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan) One of the better Dragonball Z movies I've seen. The plot is interesting and the fight is great. Lots of Super Saiyans. Nice!
Dragonball Z 9 - Ginga Giri-Giri!! Butchigiri no Sugoi Yatsu (Bojack Unbound) These villians just suck and are boring. The fights at the tournament are pretty cool. Ten vs. Trunks. Piccolo vs. Kuririn. Super Saiyan 2 Gohan is always fun.
Dragonball Z 12 - Fukkatsu no Fyûjon!! Gokû to Bejîta (Fusion Reborn) As far as DBZ movies go, this one was top-notch. It never slows down and the action is sweet. Gotta love seeing Freeza and Hitler get their asses kicked.
Dragonball Evolution Shenlong was not strong with this movie, unfortunately. For the love of Dragonball, it's okay but nothing close to what I'd hoped a DBZ movie might be like when I was in high school.
Dragonheart Dragons! Well, A dragon. Still...
Dragonheart 2: A New Beginning A once-watcher if you liked the first.
Dreamcatcher The cast is good but this movie is all over the effing place. Probably much better in book form.
Dream Lover I'm a huge James Spader fan and he's great in this movie. So is the girl that plays his romantic interest/antagonist. It's a really great suspence/paranoia movie. The ending is a killer. Hahahaha!
Drop Dead Fred Annoying as shit but I manage to watch it at least once every couple years. Phoebe Cates character is so pathetic and the mom is such a mega-bitch but then Drop-Dead Fred slaps them in the face with his dick.
Drowning Mona Dumb.
Dude, Where's My Car? A once-watcher that you may watch more than once.
Dukes of Hazzard, The TERRIBLE casting. Jessica Simpson is hot but not an actress. The two guy Dukes are okay but here's the thing, they are both over the top comic-relief type actors. There needs to be a straight man for this movie to work. Replace either one with a traditionally serious actor and this movie would have been a lot better. So many comedies today are pure shit because their entire casts are goofballs trying to be funny. "Trying to be funny" is the quickest route to not being funny at all, just pathetic. Whatever, this movie is just a cash in on an old tv liscense, Jessica Simpson and two... funny guys.
Dumb and Dumber Dumb, and yet funny.
Dumbo A Disney movie.
Dune This is one bad ass sci-fi flick. The book is better, as is usually the case but the director took some liberties that I think make this adaptation stand out in a good way. Sting makes for a bad ass Feyd-Rautha. The space navagator is wicked and fucked up looking, as it should be. Harkonnen's face! What the fuck? That's what is substantially great about this film, it literally feels other-worldly. It takes you someplace you have NEVER been: DUNE.
Dungeons and Dragons: The Movie Terrible. The only semi-related-to-D&D element is the crappy looking beholder that's on screen for like five seconds. The characters suck, they don't believe they're on an adventure, it just sucks! Marlon Wayans is the high point in actors and he dies! He had some funny moments...
Dungeons and Dragons: The Wrath of the Dragon God I've gotta give this movie props, it actually felt like D&D. There were monsters popping up everywhere and I grabbed my Monster Manual and looked em up as I watched. Very nicely adapted from the actual game. Plus, oh man... the mage chick that's always calling down the lightning... a RPGer's wet dream. Hugely improved from the original movie.
